The Wroblewski  Library of the Lithuanian Academy of Sciences

    The Wroblewski  Library of the Lithuanian Academy of Sciences is a scientific library of state significance and cultural, scientific and educational institution. Its founder is the Lithuanian  Academy of Sciences. All citizens of Lithuania and foreign countries are entitled to use the services of the Library.

   As of  1 January 2012, the Library's collections counted  3.755.249 copies including  267.449 items of manuscript documents. As for 1 January 2012, the Wroblewski Library of the Lithuanian Academy of Sciences had 11.170 registered users.

Aim

       The main objective of the Library is to satisfy information needs of the scientific community, preserve for the future generations the documentary heritage and carry out its scientific and educational mission. Due to the fact that it holds historically formed collections of written heritage, the Library performs research of the documentary heritage related to the history of science and culture.

•  supplying the scientific community with information resources;
•  carrying out and stimulating research of the documentary heritage related to the history of science and culture; 
•  introducing new information and communication technologies;
•  promotion of scientific and educational awareness of the value of creative writing .

Development of the Virtual Electronic Heritage System (VEPS)

       The project has been carried out since 2010. Its aim is to ensure the continuity in the development and access of the digital content of Lithuanian cultural heritage by maintaining the virtual electronic heritage system. The Wroblewski Library of the Lithuanian Academy of Sciences has digitized 9 013 objects .
